To investigate the effect of Eclipta Eclipta extract on inflammation and bleeding caused by the venom of Agkistrodon brevius, Agkistrodon halys, Agkistrodon halys, Agkistrodon halys and Agkistrodon acutus. Methods The effects of Eclipta Eclipta extract on the swelling of rats’ feet caused by snake venom were observed in the model of inflammation induced by Agkistrodon brevius, Agkistrodon halys, Agkistrodon baimei and Agkistrodon acutus. Eclipta Eclipta extract was mixed with different snake venoms and subcutaneously injected into the abdomen of mice to observe its effect on the subcutaneous hemorrhage of mice caused by snake venoms. Results The extract of Eclipta alba (15g/kg) was administered by gavage twice in a row, which had obvious inhibitory effect on the acute inflammation model of rat foot edema caused by the venom of Agkistrodon brevius, Agkistrodon halys, Agkistrodon baimei or Agkistrodon acutus, and the chronic inflammation model of cotton ball granuloma caused by the venom of Agkistrodon brevius (20g/kg). It also could significantly inhibit the subcutaneous hemorrhage of mice caused by these venoms. Conclusion Eclipta Eclipta extract has obvious inhibitory effect on the inflammation and bleeding caused by the venom of Agkistrodon brevius, Agkistrodon halys, Agkistrodon halys Pallas and Agkistrodon acutus.
