Hemostatic Effect of Haemocoagulase from Agkistrodon halys on Patients Undergoing Nasal Endoscopic Surgery

To evaluate the hemostatic effect of Haemocoagulase (HCA) from Agkistrodon acutus in patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery. Methods 60 patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery were randomly divided into observation group (R group) and control group (F group), 30 patients in each group. In group R, 2 U hemagglutinating enzyme of Agkistrodon acutus was given 15 minutes before operation, while in group F, no hemostatic drugs were used. The amount of bleeding during operation was recorded and the hemostatic effect of HCA was evaluated. Results In group R, 28 cases were effective, accounting for 93.3%; In group F, 21 cases were effective, accounting for 70.0%. The hemostatic effect of group R was better than that of group F (P<0.05). Conclusion Haemocoagulase from Agkistrodon acutus has a good hemostatic effect in endoscopic sinus surgery.
